6 Volt GC2 Golf Cart batteries

My Tradewinds has 2 12 Volt batteries for the engine, so what does the 4 6 Volt batteries do. Reason I'm asking is I thought they powered the slides, interior lights, but with my 6 volt batteries disconnected I was able to bring in the bed room slide and turn on interior lights. So what do these 4 batteries provide power to??

I don't know the details of your MH, but slides and jacks are often (usually?) run off the engine battery. It's always a good idea to have the engine running when operating them.

Your house batteries are wired to run your 12V lights, water pump, inverter (if you have one), roof vent fans, etc. Basically everything that runs off 12V other than slides and jacks.

Many motorhomes, like my Itasca, have a boost switch that connects the house and engine batteries. Mine is momentary but your's may be on/off and be in the on position. This switch is intended to give your starting battery a boost from your house batteries for starting.

You may have some other sort of interconnect to your engine batteries to give you lighting incase your house batteries go bad or are disconnected. If you have or can download an owners manual, it should explain this.

Since your's is a 2001, I assume there's a previous owner (PO). POs are notorious for making strange mods without any documentation so that could be it as well.

Was the engine off as well?

Your 6volt batteries in series/ parallel (12vdc house batteries) typically power 12volt control to Fridge, furnace, etc.
It also would power water pump, interior lights and also provide DC power to inverter.
There are solenoid (s) that could be connecting both sets of batteries together.
You'll need to systematically find out what is getting powered by each set of batteries

6 VOLT

the 2 -- 12v battries are to start the motor, run parking lights & other chassie ( freightliner) things.

the 4 - 6 volt are wired to make 12v for the inverter and all "coach" (national) items built on the chassie
