98 Dolphin Air Horns not Working

98 gas Dolphin I bought a few years ago.

The roof air horns never worked.

I searched this and other forums and everyone refers to a solenoid but I don't know what it looks like or where to look.

Ideas?

You are going to have to search for the air lines that go up to the horns, the solenoid will be at the end of the airlines. You can also try to find the lines from the tank going up into the undercarriage and then narrow down the location of the solenoid. it will have an input air line, output air line, and then 2 wires, ground and 12v.

It can look like any of these Solenoids

Just because they look like air horns doesn't make it so. You need to take a closer look at your horns to see if you see electrical wires or air lines entering the horn body. I believe you will find that they are electrical and you are looking for a solenoid that doesn't exist. It is common for these horns to stop working due to the trumpet becoming plugged by debris and freezing the diaphragm. In that case, the only fix is either to replace or, if you are handy, take them apart, clean out the trumpet and make sure the diaphragm is free to vibrate properly. If they are like mine, they are activated by the horn pad switch same as your regular horns.

Their not air horns, they are electric. Normally the diaphragm gets full of bugs and rust and stop working. Some owners have taken them apart cleaned them and got them working again.

Ours did not work. After seeing that 12v was going to the horns....and after taking them apart and cleaning...and still not working....we bought new ones. About $110.

Thanks everyone.

I see wires from the horn so I am assuming electrical type horns.

I am not good on ladders so I will let this go as we are selling the coach soon.
