Almost lost the Generator

Well....we're now in Vermont on our way to Nova Scotia. Stopped at a rest area and happened to notice the generator muffler showing below the front of the Tradewinds. Opened the front access hatch and sure enough the passenger side hanger was totally sheared off and the only thing keeping it from dragging on the ground was the tail pipe on the driver's side. Driver side hanger was still intact.
Luckily an RV repair shop was located at the same exit and we limped in. Since their welder was off today the only thing we could do was chain it up and hope for later repairs.
Its a Generac generator and after looking closely at the hanger I think I'm lucky it lasted as long as it did. Not enough steel cross section. Most of it was cut open for muffler attachment.
In case anybody is wondering its a 2002 with 66,000 miles.
Just another reason to try Koni shocks and try and tame the Spartan's ride. Already adjusted ride height and air pressures but road expansion joints and small potholes cause huge jolts.

Had something similar happen years ago with an old Southwind which had an Onan 4 KW generator. We stopped in a rest area in the middle of the Siskiyou Mountains while going South on I5. Noticed the generator was hanging way too low. We used a broom handle to wedge it up untill we could get to Yreka and have it welded.
