Well I did a major boo-boo this past weekend and ran my coach into a light poles concrete base. It scratched the crap out of the last cabinet door and just opened up the rear bumper panel (bottom rear panel). I called Ortega and the quote was rather hefty for the 2 panels. They say that the replacement panels are now made of fiberglass instead of the original plastic. Has anyone used Ortega and what is the workmanship and match to the existing panels. Thanks.

I bought a replacement ram cover for my tropical. It was a perfect match. I hear the parts are a bit pricey. Mine was such a small piece, it wasn't bad. I can't say anything bad about the actual part though.

me and several others on this website are not pleased with the crappy quality of their original plastic doors. i asked several weeks ago for prices of the new fiberglass doors & what i got was sticker shock!!

8 replacement doors, packaging charge, shipping charge to Indiana has a sub-total charge of $5900+ AND they still need to be installed and painted plus California sales tax of 8.75%.

they were supposed to be offering a discount to those of us with the crappy plastic doors but i don't think thats what they quoted me.

sorry but i don't have better news for you.

National made nice rv's but these doors were defective in design.

I bought a Rear Cap and one Bay door for my 1999 Tradewinds and they worked out fine. A bit expensive with a six to eight week lead time, but it's the only source for these parts.

You could contact a few of the salvage yards for RV's and might be able to get what you need cheaper.

Thank you for the link to the salvage yard as I just clobbered a compartment door on my LTC a couple of days ago on a rock turning into HD and having to dodge a woman on the phone that pulled out of a parking slot. Turns out they had just dumped them a couple of days earlier in the curb area to stop folks from going over the curb and one of the clerks said that I was about the 10th person to hit them in three days.

I see you live in a cold winter climate state like me--------so
if your storing the RV outdoors in winter like me, they cannot be repaired. these crappy plastic doors will expand & contract with the weather conditions---never were designed to withstand outdoor temperatures of below about 5 degrees (we had many days below zero) without cracking. we had a very bruttal winter season this year & so many of mine have also suffered severe damage.
unless you can store RV in a heated building in winter, nothing will work to repair them & replacements from ORTEGA mfg. which they now realize were defective now make them in fiberglass. very pricey though. see my post above what they quoted me!!!!

I just talked to Visonerv and they wanted $1000 for a used compartment door for my LTC. OOppss. They are really proud of their stuff. He said that they have over 450 salvage rigs on their lot. Well,that's one door they're gonne be keeping. Will be calling Ortega about a quote. Or mebbee like a previous poster said,learning how to do fiberglass myself.

i think you made a good decision about visone rv parts. i live about 3 hours away from them but have not stopped in there yet. while i don't want to badmouth them, they are near the London, Ky. area where some on here can remember Eastgate Rv sales

that were taking advantage of their customers
and finally put out of business by Kentucky Attorney Generals office. numerous complaints to BBB (they had a F rating) did little to help them. like i & others stated once before---there are 5 rv dealerships in this area & all are related to each other. i'd be extra cautious about purchases in this area. get feedback from persons on here first!!!!

We had ours remade out of fiberglass by a local guy. Ours were all cracked and would have been impossible to repair. He could have colored the fiberglass but we just went with white. It was alot cheaper then then the company that bought the molds from National RV and is selling them. Another friend of ours did the same and then put bed liner on them they look really good.
