Anyone replace the ceiling lights?

Hello all! Just picked up our new to us 2000 Tradewinds and the inside is a mess thanks to the previous owners. That's okay though! We wanted to customize for us anyway....
One thing that I really wan to change (but wasn't destroyed) is the overhead lights. You know these little babies.... flourescent tubes giving off really bad light and sucking the color out of everything. Has anyone changed these out? Even the fixtures themselves are ugly but have been installed into the ceiling.
Any help?

I agree with your statement but with the furry ceiling and time and the sun when you remove them it will show so your stuck with the size and dimentions. I though about it several times so I have since left it and moved on to more important renos.

I saw one that was redone beautifully. It belongs to Dick aka "Theberrys" Check some of his pictures he posted when he redone his Tradewinds. Been tempted to visit him to have mine done. I'll look for it, unless he jumps in here and beats me to it.

I changed all ours to warm white to get the color back. The bulbs are nothing special, got mine at one of the big box remodeling stores. Cost a couple $ each and they're over 11 years old now as they were originally in the 2000 DSDP that we traded for the '02.

Wow.... ok, Mr. Berry.... That is beautiful... Still the flourescents though, right?

Thanks for the responses and welcome! I knew we came to the right place.

VegasDan, I have been browsing your redo as well. Very inspiring...

Thanks to everyone who has shown us what our Tradewinds used to/ could look like.

I will post pics in the next day or so just so you have a feel for what we are up against.... maybe you all can offer some advice (that is after you stop laughing..)

Blessings!

I'd like to do what Theberrys did but my living room slide is deep and snugs up to the A/C vents when closed. The warm white bulbs are a good idea.

I removed the ballasts and installed a DPDT switch in place of the old on/off. I then put in 5 strips of warm white LED strip lighting. 2 strips come on in one switch position, all 5 strips come on in the other position. (High/Low)

I'd like to see the pix of the LED. We installed LEDs in a travel trailer a number of years ago when they were the old really blue tinted ones and took them back out.
I had to replace the overhead light in the halway by the bedroom and all they had at Camping world were larger than my old one and was not a recessed fixture. Worked great though and I do like the fixture better than the old one.
I have put the daylight tubes in all but the fixture in the front ceiling that comes on with the rope lights. The daylight ones are much brighter.
