Basement Door Repair

Has anyone successfully repaired a Dolphin basement door? It seems that the basement door is no longer straight across the bottom and has bowed out.

Yep, mine have done the same, if you really want to fix it, it will be a long process, I opted to just "let it be", it's cosmetic.

When that happened to the water compartment door of my 2004 Sea Breeze, I applied 3M 5200 Sealant and pressed the door together overnight. Worked fine.

Not true. Depends on WHICH 3M product you want.

BTW, I live in CA and was able to order.

What others have done is clamp the skin and liner together, drill a few small holes through the edges and shoot some 5200 in there. That otta hold them together. Mine will be receiving thos treatment this winter when we are in Az and I do the little projects.

I used a small molly bolt. I drilled a small hole at the bottom of the door, slid the bolt through and secured the flange on the inside. Worked like a charm!
The small (¼") screw head is barely noticeable as it's at the bottom of the door.

Just noticed my generator door is starting to do this at one corner. 5200 sealant with wood clamps sounds like a winning combo to me.

Took a look at my generator door today and noticed that there is styrofoam between the outer shell and the inner panel. Not sure if 3M 5200 will be the right choice then as I'm thinking perhaps it will melt the styrofoam. Wondering if Liquid Nails would be a better choice?

National doors seprating

what i did ---------- open the latch handle 90 degrees, then drill a small hole for a 10/32nd ?? screw to what would be under the handle when closed. push the screw thru from the outsid and use a nylon lock nut inside (with a big fender washer) of the door. cant rember the length , but excess can be cut of. mine have held good and are not visiable from the outside.

That's actually a very good idea, except that in my case it's separating at the corner like in OP's photo and it might be too far away from the latch to pull it in there.

Use the 3M 5200 -- it didn't melt the styrofoam and no drilling was required.
