Battery Disconnect switch
MH in storage, no power. I saw the House batteries were low and was pulling them to charge at home. With the "salesman switch" off I got some spark as I disconnected the negative cable.. I am wondering what is powered with the switch Off. I have a knife blade switch on the chassis battery, and am wondering if I need to put one on the house batteries for long storage. Thanks for any ideas.

Often times, coaches are wired so that things like the O2 and smoke detectors are still powered when the salesman switch is off. I think this is a safety precaution. The knife switch might not be a bad idea.

Yes, you need the knife switch.

I was doing some work on the MH before the mobile repairman came to work on the front furnace and tried to start the Gennie to exercise it. It wouldn't start even with the booster switch and then all the coach power went off. I couldn't find the problem and the repairman couldn't either. He worked on it for a couple of hours before he finally bypassed the switch at the rear fuse board. Works great now and since I keep it plugged in at home,it's going to be fine. I may also put in either a rotery or a knife switch. I prefer the rotary as I have been shocked a couple of times by the one on my Thomas school bus at work. They have changed out all the knife switches now.

The inverter is "OFF" , I learned that three years ago. It was tiring to power the fridg at 120 volts,. I never use it.
Thanks for the ideas guys.. I think i can fix it now.
