Battery shut-off/disconnect

I've purchased a 1999 TradeWinds 7372 and would like to add a chassis/engine battery disconnect similar to the one for the house batteries. I have an extra ""aux" switch near the arm rest panel. How difficult is this?

Off the top of my head opinion. If I were going to do this, I would use a Manual Switch, like a knife switch, instead of a Relay type Switch, a solenoid. Why? It will be expensive and hard to find a latching Relay type switch with contacts large enough to reliably carry the high current for the engine starter......and then it's location will be a bigger challenge, as well. I agree with Rook! Something like this will be much simpler to install and just as effective.
Amazon.com : On/off Battery Isolator Kill Switch Boat Caravan Rv 275/1250 Amp 12v- Five Oceans : Sports & Outdoors

If you use a powered relay and disconnect the battery you'll need some tricky wiring to get the relay the power to engage the battery.

by the way Dick...I noticed you had the same exact unit I have. I've asked on the forum about replacing the factory cd/cassette player in my dash. Only because I want to hook up my Sirius/XM and it has no "aux in" on the front. I did notice two RCA type females underneath the dash that come out of the radio, but after hooking up the Sirius/XM to them..didn't get anything.
My point in all of this is that the factory radio doesn't seem to have any "channels" to engage unlocking forks to remove radio. Any thoughts?

Just a temporary fix thought.

I bought a monster cassette adapter from amazon.. around $10-$15... works great.... plays my portable xm radio and ipod touch. Sounds pretty good to my bad ears

I didn't do much with the original Radio. I replaced it pretty early on with a Sony. Ant the glass tube TV as well.

X2 the manual switch idea. Did something on my SeaView with a "dual circuit battery switch" allowing to disconnect both battery banks, connect both battery banks, or interconnect batteries. Here is the full posting:
