Bedroom Slide floor
Can anyone tell me exactly how the bedroom floor is constructed? I'm asking because I noticed when the slide is extended the outside bottom edges are swelling somewhat.I removed the metal edge guard and there is metal with a thin plywood that has a thinner layer of fiberglass(?) on it. It appears the whole bottom, 2ft x 6ft appx., is covered with this thin sheet. I'm wondering if the whole floor just above it is metal or is it just a metal tube "frame". 2005 Sea Breeze 8360 Thanks.

Have you found any more information on the construction?

On my 05 Dolphin, water leaked in from the slide roof a the edge of the rubber as it was not sealed right. The bottom of the slide frame rusted out and the wood rotted. I fixed it be adding 24 gauge aluminum to the bottom securing with SS screws, then one by one removed the screws and injected epoxy. The roof on the main slide was also leaking. Fixed the roof with self leveling Dicor at the seems. All took about 6 weeks of work, result at good, BR slide bottom is solid.

I had the same problem as Chuck Q on previous 05 and current 08 Dolphin bedroom slides, water leaked(unknowing) from slide roof down to slide floor and caused some damage to wood sheeting in floor and some rust to square metal tubing floor frame.
The factory did a poor job installing rubber roofing on both unit's bedroom slide roof, especially how the inside facing roof corners of rubber roofing was folded & finished. To check this area the slide needs to be in and view top with a small mirror & light. Most important to stop any water leaks first. After cleaning, some Dicor lap sealant maybe all that's needed in the right spots.(I had to apply with fingers as not easy to access with caulking gun)

Also, to help you more with your question, both our Dolphins bedroom slide floors where made square steal tubular frame(1" x 1" I believe) with Styrofoam inside the frame and sandwiched by 1\8 " wood sheeting top and bottom with a fiberglass sheet glued under the bottom 1/8 " wood sheeting. If the wood sheeting gets wet, it may swell and will rot in time. Then the fiberglass sheeting will let go looking like its bulging at bit. In my case the nylon blocks that our model's bedroom slide out slides on, in time damaged the fiberglass sheeting because the wood sheeting beneath was rotted and then offered less support for the weight of the slide room.
