Bottle Jack Needed

I need to jack my 1996 P30 wheels and tires for brake maintenance. What capacity jack would I need to purchase in order to raise the 14,800 lbs., one wheel at time?

The higher the ton rating, the easier it is to pump.

A 3 to 5 ton will do the job but an 8 to 10 ton will pump easy.

No sense going to the minimum , get the largest capacity jack that will go under the suspension ( 4 ton+ would be my choice ) and a couple of jack stands ; at least 4,000 # each.

Remember you'll need to place any jack on a min. 2X6 board to keep it from sinking into dirt or pavement .

Why not use your leveling jacks if you have them? They typically can lift the rear or front tires off the ground when fully extended.

I would look at the lift range of the jacks too, so that there's enough lift to do what you need to do.

After jacking up I use a pair of Harbor Freight 12,000 lb jack stands, each one rated at 6,000 lb placed under the axle.
