Kinda, sorta. Better than having that 11" drop hitch hanging down there all by itself.
With out seeing it for over a year, I think my buddy had his beefed up with two receiver hitch tubes extended from the frame to his receiver hitch cross tube.

I think it was kinda like this, or maybe under the cross tube, but inside the side plates and maybe more, and then he uses an adjustable WD hitch. Will see it again in a couple weeks.

Yeah I think that we have the same length drop hitch.
At the end of the day, I don't notice *that* much difference with the performance of the RV when towing, or not towing the trailer and VW. Sure, it's a little more responsive "off the line" and lighter, but from a perspective of hill climbing, I don't really see that much difference when we are towing and when we aren't.
We have a pretty extreme hill climb on the road up to our house in CT and whether we are towing the car or not, we still drop down to about 30MPH on the climb.

Fully loaded trailer weighs right at 5K, including extra rail gas and accessories.

Nice! ... but from the looks of it, the sand railer weighs a LOT less than our Tiguan

A little jealous ... twice the HP of our tiguan, and about 1/2 the weight. I bet that it's twice as fun as the Tiguan too - and yeah our Tiguan is a LOT of fun to drive in the dry, wet and snow!

I am going to start a thread in the next couple days about just this. I want to see what others have done to add support to the hitch\receiver\ frame extension.
