Brake Conroller

I just bought a 1999 National Seaview 8340 with a Ford V10

I have a “Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller”

Which harness do I need to connect the brake controller to the RV? I bought one for my Nissan Titan before and it made it really easy.

Here are my options from the website…. Brake Controllers - Tekonsha - If you go to the bottom you can select Ford and then I am lost from there.

Thank you for the help. I don't want to order the wrong one because I don't think I will have time to purchase another one before my trip.

If mine has something to connect a harness to, I couldn't find it. I wired mine to a Toyota harness that came with it from Ebay.

For a motor home chassis, you will most likely need to wire it by hand. No connectors for quick plug and play like a truck.

Thats not what I wanted to hear

I hate doing any electrical even the simplest stuff. I was hoping for a plug and play

And I am to cheap to just pay someone to do it for me haha.

**** UPDATE ****

I found the wires ( after all the horror stories I heard I was very pleased to find the wires in less then 5 min)

So the rv has 5 wires and the brake controller has 4.

The wire that is left out is the LT GREEN wire on the RV and is labeled "stop light feed to brake controller"

So if this wires is not connected, exactly what is going to happen?

right near the floor directly behind were the steering column goes into the floor. I saw one wire that was just hanging and pulled it, the whole bundle came out eventually with a nice tag identifying all of the wires.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with the "LT GREEN ONE"

Maybe nothing if the controller doesn't need it. Going to look now anyway. Thx.

Hi Twitch,

I hooked up a brake controller and needed the following:

1 wire to positive Battery terminal
1 wire to negative Battery terminal
1 wire to ground
1 wire to brake third light ( couldn't find wire on brake switch)
1 wire to blue wire in trailer plug.

Hope this helps.

The "Wire to brake 3rd light" is the "Stop light feed to brake controller" Same wire.

So if you have a 3rd eye brake light feed to the box you are good.

Tekonsha.. That's a small town in Southern, Lower Michigan,, Right off US-27/I-69 I grew up there.

That's a F53 chassis.

When I looked for my brake wires, all I found was a tight bundle of wires in front of the steering column, right next to a white multi-connector block.
