Climate control issues.

2004 sea Breeze. Ford chassis

Dash air doesn't respond to cold/hot control at all. Stays cool. Ac doesn't seem to work although I can't confirm the compressor kicks on because it is not here with me.

I also have to random default to defrost vents.

The entire setup is frustrating.

What is the logical point to begin troubleshooting?

Start with the Vacuum line to the Evans AC Controller Panel. It will default to defroster if the vacuum isn't working. Here is the documentation I've collected over the years. https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=AE67F...2766057%212964

Good Luck

Dick is correct.
The vacuum system is the place to start.

Although I have a diesel and I don't have an "Evans brand" AC Controller Panel, my "some other brand" dash air and heater controls are operated by vacuum and it defaults to defrost if something is faulty in the vacuum system, (lines, pump, reservoir, etc).

BTW, on my engine driven dash air compressor you can see if the compressor clutch is working by watching it while a helper turns the dash A/C on/off.
