Dash Lighting

Just did my first night drive in our 2003 Dolphin. The lighting in the instrument cluster work fine, but there is no back lighting in the two side panels. Are these panels supposed to be back lit?

If your dash is similar to mine with three sections the two side panels lettering is back lite. Mine glow green when the lights are on. There is a small box behind the dash the inverts 12V to 120V for the light strips glued to the back of the dash panels. I don't recall the name of the unit or manufacturer. Maybe another member that knows the name will jump in.

Thanks chboone. Couldn't tell if they were even supposed to be lite. Seemed that they should be though. Has anybody had any luck fixing these lights or know where or what I need to check?
