Dashboard Creaking and Moaning

just returned from a 3 week trip in the motorhome. while out I noticed
every time I hit a bump or hole in the road my dashboard creeks and
moans.

was wondering if anyone has added any extra bracing under the dash?
I was thinking of maybe getting some L brackets and adding these all along
under the dash. do u think this will stop the dash from creeking and moaning? has anyone else experienced this movement of the whole dash
assembly? what have u done to fix this annoying noise while driving down
the highway? any help is appreciated. thanks

Mine does some creaking and poping, but no moaning! I have decided it's slight (thousandths of an inch) movements of plastic against plastic. So, except for removing the dash and placing rubber filler between all the parts, there is no cure. I just grimace and bear it. Rook

i dont know if i am over doing it here but if things are starting to move around on the dash .. then from age / miles the fire wall / windshield may be moving as well as the start of a windshield starting to fail

i would add some blue painters tap to the dash and then the window and see if your getting alot of movement out of any thing .. as it is hard to see in tell you add the tap to show you

it could help to see if there could be some thing bigger to all this

My 1997 tropical has a piece of wood supporting the middle of the dash. Not sure if it is original or installed by previous owner. That is where my squeak was coming from. I removed, installed some hvac tape for cushion. No more squeak!

I have a super clean low mileage 99 Dolphin 37 and it 'had' a zillion dash area creaks, squeaks, rattles, ckicks and moans.

I got a roll of grey Butyl tape ( putty tape ) and started forming it and pushing it into every gap and edge to edge space I could get it into even to the point of taking a butter knife to push it in deep and in every application I made sure it was a clean detailed and un-seen install.

Now there is not one single noise from my entire dash and overhead area.

Hope that is helpful , cheers

Mine does the same, drives you nuts because it is intermittent, some days yes, some days no. Looking at your picture, how did you get into this position to find that board??

Removed the radio / hvac control panel. Was quiet for a while, now have a squeak on the far passenger side... Sounds same as the one I fixed as shown in photo.

where exactly did u apply the butyl tape under the dash? also where did u apply the
tape for your overhead console? inside console or against wall above windshield?

would like to see pictures so I can follow suit and try and do the same as you did?

thanks for all your help and advise. Frankie

Been there, done some of that...

I have a 2004 Seabreeze that has dash squeaks, rattles, creaks, chirps, etc... Tried to quiet them in a variety of ways, I removed all dash instrument clusters and put foam insulating tape behind them and reset, that helped some. Found some loose "mounting boards", which are just pieces of 2X4 under the dash, that I tightened down. Then I did same around the panels in the dash that come out for access to the dash. Next I took foam strip, like used to seal up sides of window a/c unit, and slid between plastic dash and windshield area and pushed in with edge of ruler to put barrier between opposing plastic pieces, last I tightened every trim and cabinet screw I could find in the cockpit area, some were loose to the point of almost falling out. All this resulted in about 90% improvement. Also adjusted air pressure in front tires, P/O had 105 in them, then added Koni shocks. The remaining squeaks and creaks that come and go, I have just learned to live with!
