Ever since I have owner my Islander outside light by the passenger door was unsightly. It is mounted between the passenger window and living winder on a piece of yellowing plastic about 12" by 5" by 1/4". A couple of days ago I un-screwed it and pried it off, quite
a job, a lot of glue. Under it a hole a oblong hole a little bit bigger than a golf ball. Come to find out that at the factory they put the light it in the wrong place and it was interfering with the awning over the door and it couldn't latch, they had to move it, but they had this hole now and covered it with plastic. Having worked with fibre glass in my younger days, I patched the hole, ran the light wire to the left, hitting a metal brace, had to drill a hole thru the brace for the wire, now I can center the new light which I have coming, the paint under the plastic patch was not matching so I made vinyl patch for the new light to mount on, instead of fooling around trying to match the faded paint. Looks pretty good.
I see the 2003 Islanders that light was moved over the top of the passengers window, like they should have done in the first place.
