Diagnostic Port????

Anybody know where the diagnostic port is on a 2000 Dolphin? Also, a good diagnostic tool for it? Thanks, SR

Diagnostic ports on an RV are generally directly in front of the drivers left foot up under the dash. But OBDII type read outs were not required until 2006 so even with a DIN to OBDII adapter plugged into the European style port that your RV likely has, an off the market OBDII reader probably won't report much. If anything.

The OBD-II port in my 99 Dolphin in on the right side of the steering column. Very hard to see, use a good light and mirror or if you can lay down and look up under dash. The port may have a cap on it.

Whoever built your chassis will have the equipment to read the codes. So you call and ask if they can, then take your RV to them.

Here's a summery of the info I collected about it. Note I was biased towards diesel chassis' but many truck frame manufacturers follow the herd.

Engine diagnostics

BTW, it's inexpensive to own an OBDII reader these days as many of them are Bluetooth so you just plug it into the port, open the app on your phone and read the codes that may be there. But don't get your hopes up that you'll read anything of note.

I have a reader coming. As long as it gives me the codes I can find what they mean on the Ford code chart. Thanks for the info

Please post a link to, or the codes you found...I'll add them to my article. Plus future readers here may get some use from what you found/find.

Got my reader and went over and hooked it up and it said there were no stored trouble codes. The "service engine soon" light had come on last time I drove the buggy. I do unhook the ground on the battery when stored so maybe that cleared it. I did start the engine after checking for codes and the light was no longer on.

I would recommend that you test drive about 5 miles and Scan again. If your Dolphin has separate modules controlling the Engine and Transmission a code for the Trans may not show up in the Engine control module (ECM).
