Diesel Generator Maintenance, question re access door

We have a 06 Tropical witha 8KW Onan generator. Planned on doing some maintenance on it. Picked up oil, fuel, and air filters from the Cummins dealer. When attempting to swing the bottom access door open, it hits the exhaust pipe. I ended up taking the 2 torx screws out at the hinge side which was not a big deal, but did I miss something ? I assume most generators have the same exhaust pipe running under the access cover. It appears its designed to simply swing down to allow access.
All the filters were easy to change, but the fuel filter continued to drip fuel after loosening the fittings. About a qt. dripped out before I just did the "quick swap" and reconnected the lines to the new filter. Now to change the coolant .

The exhaust pipe for the genset on my coach is in the way also and I remove the cover to make changing filters easier also. Do not thing you missed a thing.
sounds like you have things under control.
The fuel filter supply line is below the fuel tank level so a siphon effect happens.
I use a rubber cap to plug the supply at the back of the generator after removing it. The cap is like the ones used on the larger vacuum lines. Then I can take my time changing the filter.

Dick.

The exhaust isn't anywhere near the filter door on my 7.5K Quiet Diesel; the door swings down without anything blocking it.

Mine is the same, the pipe crosses under the access cover. Maybe it is a National thing since the Winnie owner did not have the same problem.

On mine Winnie brought the exhaust diagonally forward underneath the generator to near the left front corner, then it turns out and comes out the left side with a bit of a bend to bring it back a bit. This keeps it well to the right of the filter access door.
