Dolphin chassis battery is dead

I have a 2004 Dolphin 5342. I have been plugged into shore power for 5 weeks and my chassis battery is dead. Battery is less than 2 years old. I’ll pull it and have it load tested but doesn’t it get charged when plugged in. Control panel shows house batteries at 13.6 but chassis battery is blank. Thanks for any input!

Sounds like your interconnect solenoid is stuck or burned up.

Do you know where to find that solenoid on the Dolphin and does it look like a typical starter solenoid? How would I troubleshoot it? Thanks for the reply!

The interconnect solenoid, ( actually called the isolation solenoid ) is also used as the boost/aux start solenoid.

Pushing the boost switch on and off and listening for it is a way of locating it.

Once found, you measure voltage on both large terminals, to ground, while on shore power or with engine running. If its working, voltage should be the same.
Its connecting the house batteries to the chassis batteries.

All of this is IF you have the capability to charge the chassis battery thru the isolation solenoid. Many RV of that era didn't.

Just because someone said it may be that, doesn't mean he knows if yours does.

This should help. The first BCC has fuses the second one has circuit breakers depending which one you have. Download all the files for your BCC.
