Engine service light

My engine service light came on. Initially a panic, but after reading the workhorse chassis book, I am left wondering what is going on. When I read a little while traveling I felt it was safe to continue on. Got home and saw it could be different things with one being a poorly put on gas cap, and I had got gas earlier and not sure when light came on. Another could be service needing done, but just had service recently, and is there something that needs reset then?
Any other thoughts ?
Thanks
Gary

Get an ODBII code reader. https://www.amazon.com/Code-Readers-...&node=15707381. Walmart or any auto parts store will have one. Under $20 will give you a code to at least have an idea what is going on. Also most will reset the the engine light. You can even get a Bluetooth one that works with most smart phones.

Pull your chassis manual back out and find the page with a picture of the instrument panel and a description of what each warning light, gauge and symbol means.
If the light you are seeing is the check engine light you should take your MH to a qualified repair shop and have a diagnosis performed, not just a code reader.
Whatever you do, if you go to a shop, DO NOT ask them to or allow them to clear the code unless they are actually going to service the vehicle.
If the shop you chose does not repair the issue the code should remain in the computer. Otherwise the next shop you visit will try to retrieve a code and none will be present. A waste of their time and your money. If nothing else have the shop you first visit record the code number and fault description for future use.

Says first thing to check is if just refueled check gas cap, and I am going to try and find a new gas cap. Then move on from there. I also will follow your advise when I. Take it in.
