Entry door wont stay open.

2008 Pacifica is the model. The Main entry door opens and closes, latches and locks...BUT.....when it is fully open it wont stay open. The metal arm at the top of the door is worn out? or missing a bushing or something?...is there a way to re-tighten the pivot point..anybody have this problem and fixed it??

If its one of those gas arms , they wear out and need to be replaced. Probably a $ 20 item.

replacing the gas lift support cured mine.

no gas arm, its a stamped metal piece with a pivot and catch built in the middle...i have been really digging on line since i posted this, and found PTL hardware..

Do you have a gas arm thingie, or just a two piece flat arm with a rivet for a pivot .
If a gas arm, replace it. If a rivet pivot there is a part of the arm that has a recess that an embossed part is supposed to slip into to hold the door open. You have to increase the tension, or pressure on these two pieces. With the door partially open take a LARGE pair of pliers and gently bend the one part of the arm to increase the pressure on it.

That sounds like the ticket. I like that better than buying a new one, i notices there was extra play in the joint of the two stamped arms.
