Found a way to eliminate squeak in bedroom slide

Hi Folks,
I found an easy way to eliminate the squeaking sound, while operating the bedroom slide in my 2004 Sea Breeze.

I've tried several types of dry lubes and oil, etc. The other day I used candle wax and the noise is know gone.

I took a piece of candle wax from a fragrant candle and rubbed it underneath the slide, in the three places that slide across the Teflon rubbing blocks. (There are no rollers, like the larger living room slide has).
You can see where the blocks are located from outside the slide while pushing on the bottom weather seal, and looking into the gap. My slide has three Teflon rubbing blocks; at the front , middle and rear of the bottom slide. There will also be tell tale slide marks on the bottom of your bedroom slide. Rub the candle wax on the discolored paint on bottom of the slide.

There are also two more Teflon rubbing block located inside the coach under the foot end of the bed, but these two have much less weight on them and I don't think they squeak.

Hopefully this will also reduce friction and make my drive mechanism "Roll Pin" last longer before shearing off.

Mike

I have the same rig with the same problem. Must be a design issue. Thanks so much for looking into this. The other slides are super quiet, quieter than new rigs. My bedroom slide was the only one that made noise. I will try it as well and report back.

I have used Mothers Carnuba Wax, but the candle wax sounds like a good idea..

The techs at National used hand soap, ie Dove, when I had them look at the slide for squeeking, back in 2005. Did stop the squeak but became a mess after a while, I now just use Carnuba wax. Works 4 me.

Yep

Ditto what others here have said, I put carnuba on bottom of slide every year...not a squeak to be had.

I've used the wax for several years which helps for a few months. I'm going to try the candles wax and see how long that will last. It's really embarrassing when you park in a campground and open the bedroom slide and it squeaks all the way out
