fridge fan

I have a seaview model 8310 with a dometic Americana fridge.
the previous owner installed a electric fan mounted outside in the outside
fridge compartment. you can see it when u remove the outside fridge cover. however, it must have run his batteries down so he disconnected
it and the loose black and red wires are just hanging there not connected
to anything?

my question is I would like to reconnect this fan but would like to reconnect it to a thermostat so it can go on and off automatically and
hopefully when I connect it back up it will not run my batteries down?

does anyone know where and what kind of thermostat I can buy?
does camping world sell them? I have never seen them? are they
expensive? can they be easily hooked up?

any recommendations are appreciated. I would like to use this fan since it is already mounted behind the fridge. thanks

I mounted a 4", 12v computer fan to the bottom of the top shelf with plastic P retainers. It's wired to the hot side of the light through a switch for when I don't want it on.

Well, when your plugged in it won't run the battery down. Maybe there was another reason he unplugged it.

I installed one of the solar powered Camco units when they first came out. It was easy to install and works just fine. I feel that it definitely helps the cooling function of the condenser. It is solar so no batteries to run down.
I do like the computer fan idea on the inside. I could stop buying "D" cells.

I think that the op is asking about a fan that is pushing air up past the rear fridge cooler.
