Fridge on the fritz

Went out today and there are no lights on the refrigerator. It isn't working on battery power or generator. fuses are good and have 120 volts on the circuit board. Hoping maybe a bad circuit board ??? Any ideas out there?

Gas/electric fridges need 12 volts to run. Do you have that ?

Fuses at the refrigerator are good. There are several fuse locations for the motor home. Any suggestions where there might be another fuse?

Problem solved. I was checking 12 volt power and there is a thermal fuse on the flu stack behind a tin cover. Disconnected the wires and pushed the button. Connected the wires and it started up. Thanks twinboat for the 12 volt info!

That thermal fuse on stack....overheating sensor that trips if coolant flow is obstructed causing the coolant to overheat.

If Norcold it trips at 700*F

If Dometic it trips at 375*F ?

Check for any signs of a leak
Ammonia smell, yellowish residue around burner area, lack of cooling etc

Well... Looks like it needs a cooling unit. Runs for a while then trips. Going to have it confirmed. Thanks for the help!

My Norcold recently acted up similarly although it worked fine on electric. When on gas it ran for minutes and then faulted out. Found that the iron burner tube was thoroughly choked up with soot. A lot of tapping and rapping to free up the deposits inside and wire brushing the outside. Then blew out the chimney with compressed air. Don't know why this happened but someone had put 20,000 miles on this coach before us, and then it sat in storage for about 9 years before we got it. Good luck!

No residential for us Gunshot. Mostly boondock. Thanks for the info TandW! Will check that. All the research I've done on this site points to a bad cooling unit. I will confirm before I replace.
