Front windshield on 97 Dolphin

Hi all,
I asked about my front windshield before and I looked though the forums. Today I asked an older man who replaces windshields and he thinks the cap is the problem but I am not sure about that. I used some marine adhesive and have had no movement in two months . I was wondering if anyone has put or seen a strip of metal or plastic used to hold the lower part of the windshield.
I know that some MH's have had some problems with adhesives in the past, the windshield is in good shape so I am trying to fix it for good.
Thank you, Bob Bazley
