Fuel Leak - Appreciate any help or suggestions

I was changing my Oil and Filters on my Onan generator (National Dolphin LX - 2003)and noticed a fuel leak from my gas tank when i started the generator. The fuel runs from the top of the main fuel tank down the sides and stops when i stop the generator. This is not a small trickle - its a fair amount of gas. I tried to determine when the gas was coming from but seeing the top of the fuel tank is a problem. Has anyone ever had this problem and what happened. It appears that i will have to have the fuel tank dropped to resolve. My generator runs of the gas tank.

Looks like you have solved your own problem.
Tank will need dropped if you can't replace the hose or reach a lose clamp on it.
Probably rubber hose used.

Exact same thing happened to me in October 2005. It is the rubber gas line going from the gas tank to the generator. The tank will have to be dropped to replace it. It is not a job I would recommend doing yourself. I had Redlands Truck do the repair and if I remember correct, it cost about $235.00. I was able to get reimbursed from National even though it was out of warranty. I was given the old gas line and my investigation revealed (using codes on the line) that the hose was a couple years old before they installed it on the coach. The code also revealed it was not designed for fuel injected engines. My generator is fuel injected and when I informed National of the results of my investigation, they reluntantly refunded the cost.

Usually they just suck air in this location and starve the gen set for fuel. Might as well have someone drop the tank and get it over with. Also have the fuel pickups inspected and maybe even change out the fuel pump while you're at it and keep the old one for a spare.
