This is what I seen in the attachment that you posted Sir.........

PLUMBING & LPG SYSTEMS

Coach Exterior
Heated systems compartment with easy access to hook-ups

Now, I would take this to mean to me that this compartment was a heated area. But, I also have been under my rig and have noticed that some of the ducted work was in need of and to be repaired from age. We used dryer exhaust duck work to make repairs.

My 99 Dolphin has a heater duct in the storage tank area. No heat to the water bay though.

I use a Farm Innovators TC-3 Cold Weather Thermo Cube Thermostatically Controlled Outlet - On at 35-Degrees/Off at 45-Degrees and a Lasko #100 Watt MyHeat Personal Ceramic Heater in the water bay. Both items are available through Amazon and are inexpensive. To be on the safe side change the plug in your water bay to the GFI type.

I can't find anything in my docs that says my RV has the water area heated. Where is it in your documentation? This would be interesting info to have. My owners guide does not address it at all and I have not been under the unit looking for a heat vent.

I don't think there is anything in the owners manuals from National about the heat duct. I have seen the heat duct in my Dolphin when I accessed the storage tank area to run conduit for the inverter and install remote panels for the inverter and solar system. I have also seen posts on iRV2 and on the National RV forum on Yahoo Groups mention the basement heat duct. At least one member on Yahoo Groups is a former employee of National RV. There was a post a few weeks ago by a member that met a person at the Pomona, CA. RV Show that worked for National RV and now works in service for an RV Dealer in Colton, CA. I'll try to find the post with his name a phone number. Even with the heat duct in the storage area, the wet bay will still need to have supplemental heat such as a small electric heater, light bulb, or heat lamp.
BTW, I did get the blue case that National supplied with my MH when we bought it.

In the Owner's Guide provided by National for my 2004 Dolphin LX:
- page 6-12 and page 8-2. Please see attached.

I have not had time to pursue this but I suspect the ductwork is blocked or leaking. Will trace...

Your 2004 book is the same as my 2005. Thank you for the info.

Typically there should be no air control vents in an RV furnace system. Closing off vents can reduce air flow to the point the sail switch might shut down the furnace. Perhaps your vent is disconnected or blocked by something else. You might try a scented candle placed near the air inlet, then sniff in the wet bay/tank area for the candle scent. An incandescent lightbulb or two will provide enough heat except in really cold, windy conditions. I keep a wireless remote thermometer in my wet bay to monitor temps and I have spare drop lights to add if needed.

I agree!

However, the heat outlet in the basement of my coach has a "sliding shut off vent damper", which I:
1.) CLOSE when using the furnace to keep the interior of the coach comfortable... when the outside temps are above freezing... (to conserve heat/LP).
2.) OPEN if/when outside temps will be below freezing... (to heat the water bay and tanks).

BTW, I also have an "on @ 35* off @ 45* thermostatically controlled" 200 watt 120V ceramic space heater in the basement that I use if/when OS temps are below freezing....(and I have shore power).

Where do you set the 200 watt bulbs or ceramic heater? In the wet area of the water intake and waste controls? In my RV, the storage area for waste hoses probably goes under the holding tanks.

I permanently mounted a 200 watt ceramic heater: (Lasko Electric My Heat Personal Heater, 100 - Walmart.com), behind my "freshwater manifold"... where the heated air blows onto the backside of the water valves and the waste valves... and then rises to warm the pipes and the tanks.
It is plugged into a "TC-3 ThermoCube": http://www.amazon.com/Farm-Innovator.../B0006U2HD2Mel
