Generac 55G Won't Crank

Went out to exercise the Generac in our 2002 Scout. Took a bit of cranking but finally started and ran normally. Went to shut it down from the dash switch after 30 minutes and it wouldn't shut down. Was able to turn it off using the outside start/stop switch but now it won't crank. You can hear it prime but nothing happens when you hold down the start switch. Burned out switch? Burned out motor? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. No, it won't crank using the outside start/stop switch. Was just reading about Onans and someone said they won't crank if they overheat. It did feel pretty hot in there when I opened the bay to shut it down.

After it had a chance to cool off did it start? I assume your batteries are up.

It's parked inside at an RV storage facility about 10 miles away. I'm going back down there tomorrow and see if it will crank. House batteries were not fully charged, according to the inside monitor station. Left it plugged into 110 shore power, so everything should be fully charged tomorrow afternoon. I'll reply again tomorrow with an update. Thanks for the interest.

Here's the update. Batteries fully charged but Generac will not turn over from either the dash switch or switch on the side. I can hear it priming. I guess the next thing to check would be that 15 amp fuse on the front, but it seems as though if that were blown neither the start/stop or prime switches would work.

Check the ground cable at each end. Make sure it is clean and tight especially at the frame. Remove the ground cable where it attaches to the frame and clean real good. If that doesn't cure the problem could be a bad starter solenoid, it's just like the old Ford ones. You can jump across terminals of the solenoid from the 12V supply side to the small positive terminal to test if that is your problem. Also, do you leveling jacks work? If not check the 150 amp circuit breaker on the lower right corner, it's on the back side of the BCC. It feeds both the generator and jacks.

the fuse is easy to check, I have had my holder replaced 2 times, vibration . Also check the low voltage wiring at the oil pressure switch, I had to replace the connectors corroded, hope this helps.
