Generac Belt Replacement

I have a Marlin 2001 National RV with a Generac Quietpact 75D model 04270-0. My problem is the generator belt, I ordered replacement belt (OC5298). I had to remover the unit to get to it. Here is my problem, I literally had to cut the old belt off and cannot get the new belt on. I removed the fly wheel and still can't get the belt on its too short (#'s on both belts match.) Has anyone had this problem or has a secret on how to do this, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a Generac 55 that I checked the belt on. Didn't have to replace but there were some horizontal bolts with springs on the alternator that act a belt tensioners. Have you loosed or removed those assuming you have something similar?

Gen Belt

Thanks for reply to my gen problems guys. My generator doesn't have springs on the gen mounts. It has a belt tensioner instead; the gen is mounted to a steel plate along with the engine. I thought about taking the gen loose from the plate, but the bolts go all the through the gen assembly. My thoughts are I fear disturbing the internals of the gen might give problems down the road. I'll check the link chboone sent me. I also downloaded a repair manual, but it doesn't say or show how to install the belt it just shows how to set the proper tension. Thanks guys I appreciate the help.

With the belt tensioner totally released the belt won't go on?

I replaced the belt on my Q55 generac it was hard to put on. I put the belt on the rotor than used a wrench to turn the flywheel to get it on. The belts are a pain to put on.

I removed the gen pulley and still couldn't install it. So, I ordered a belt 1 inch longer. I just hope it is as heavy duty as the OEM it was only a third of the cost.

I just replaced both belts on my 75d , as for the generator belt I loosened the tensioner then looped the belt on the ring gear then rotated the engine by hand to get the belt on the generator then rotated the tensioner down and tightened.

I just removed the belt on a 2002 55. It would not 'slide' off. However if I rotated the engine and pried the belt on the generator I could get it to move one rib at a time. Finally it came off. Mine had tnetioners, they were fully loose. Also it was necessary to loosen the 4 spring loaded stator botls. This allowed the generator to move on the plastic shims. The whole lower casting slided on the bottom housing.

Were you able to replace the belt?

Looks like I’ll be doing mine in the near future here. Old one is cracked badly. I haven’t obtained a new belt yet. Just started my search.
