generac motor

My generac Q-55G runs very rich..on or off load...Bows black smoke.

No real hours on it. Its in National Sea Breeze , 1999

Carb is basic and no real adjustment.. Try hotter plugs??

Try holding the choke open. Tie it with a string. You can see it after taking the air filter off.

My 99 choke doesn't close, so it's a bit hard to start when cold. I move to warmer places

If it still loads up, you need to clean or replace the needle and seat in the carburetor.

Hot plugs won't help.

Thanks twinboat..I have had carb rebuilt...Maybe there is further
contamination in needle/seat...although filter should stop this

The float could have been set wrong or a piece of fuel line could have gotten lodged in the seat.
