Question Generator not charging house batteries

Generator will run both air conditioners and house loads in general but doesn't seem to charge the house batteries. When I start the generator my control panel indicates the batteries are in discharge mode. The batteries are in good shape. Will charge quickly when MH is plugged into shore power. Why is it taking so much power to start the generator which starts quickly? - 5.5 Onan Elite generator with fuel injection.

The Onan doesn't charge the house batteries, the Xantrex or which ever charger/inverter you have does. You need to check the Xantrez to see if the indicator light is solid green or red or flashing. If it is not solid green then the problem may be more complex.
