Fixed a friend's will critter damage, long arms can keep you from dropping the tank.

I fixed ours using the "long arm method" too. Ours was back near the tank connection, but since the smell is near the gen it is possible that the air leak on yours is there. Ours didn't leak fuel either.

Could anyone out there know of outlet that would have a gererac propane generators. Spoke with gen rac and of course it's discontinued. No one here in Corpus Christi will work on mine.

Is it just the fuel system that is the problem? If it is try to find someone the works on propane vehicle's. Out here propane supplier Suburban use to have guys that installed and repaired propane in vehicles. They may still do it but I lost contact with them when I retired in 2012. Propane fuel systems are really very simple to work on.
You might reach out to these people if they know of someone in your area that works on residential propane/natural gas generators.

The shop that adjusted the valves is the authorized repair shop here for Generac. He told me he just didn't know much about lp gens. Still charged me $150.....
