Slide flange pictures...
The first two show how they wrapped the rubber and also the fuzzy overhead material on the wood flange.
Picture three shows a big gap in the middle of the top flange that prompted me to replace their exiting wood with stuff that fit much better.
The fourth picture shows the edge of the slide and the rubber seal on the edge of the coach. The flange is attached with screws to the edge of the slide and contacts this seal when the slide is fully extended.
Full disclosure... I slit the fabric at every staple to remove the old wood.
The staples were a pain to remove. I just re stapled in new spots.
I did a maple surround to match our other interior wood.
Mike

Thank you Mike for the photos, I need to re-examine my thinking for the bedroom. This may be a much larger project than I want to take on.

Sandi:
Don't let any of this intimidate you. There is nothing complicated or exotic about any of these components. They are all very simple construction and in many instances crude by my personal standards.
They use fabric and foam to hide their lack of quality and the over abundance of staples and self tapping screws used to attach various items.
Take it apart, decide what works for you, fix what you find that you don't like and put it all back together.
Come and spend this coming Winter in Mesa AZ and I will give you a hand!!!
Mike
Attached is a picture of my new trim piece. The dark section is just a shadow. We have removed all of the factory fabric from the coach. We like it better now!

thank you Mike, for the invite. I would really enjoy coming to Arizona but Dear Husband does not travel in the RV and my good friend who does is like me a beach bum. Hopefully I'm going into Atlanta tomorrow to the huge Textile mills. Once I find a fabric I love then I'll be committed to get this done.

Your redo looks great.
