Help with battery charging

I am guessing this has been addressed before, but after a few days of searching the forums I can’t find what I’m looking for.

My issue:

My coach batteries will not charge with the engine running. They do charge when on shore and generator power.

My chassis battery charges at 14.2 it an idle - coach batteries are at 12.7.

I have a 2004 Seabreeze 8341LX - workhorse chassis. Only 11,000 miles.

There has to be a relay somewhere that is not working.

Things I’ve checked.
  • Checked for burned wires in transfer switch box.
  • Checked for tripped breakers in the service panel
  • Checked circuit breakers and wiring in the 12v Distribution panel
  • Check coach and chassis battery voltage while plugged into shore power
  • checked battery voltage while engine running and unplugged from shore power.
Again - I’m thinking it must be something simple - I’m a well accomplished mechanic - but some of this stuff is hidden and finding circuit diagrams is like seeing a mermaid.

Coach and chassis batteries are brand new.

Thanks for the help

If you have a boost start switch, push it on and off. If you hear a solenoid clunking, that's the one that's bad. It serves dual duty with a charging solenoid.

They clunk but don't make contact internally. Very common problem.

Google 111979 battery control center . You will find a trouble shooting guide for the charging system .
