Help with Entertainment Center

We have an 05 Seabreeze LX 32 foot, and have the entertainment center over the passenger seat. The top shelf has the Windgard distribution switch and the next shelf the DVD/VCR player. The next shelf down is empty and the bottom one is also empty, except that it has two ends of coaxial cables secured to the left of the shelf. It almost looks like it was left that way in the event that something else needed to be hooked into the distribution switch.

Ok, here's my question: Is it possible that those cables could be used to hook up the digital converter box? Getting those shelves out to get into the back of those two top units is no easy task. Another questions is: Who would you hire if you wanted someone to do it for you? We've got things working in the bedroom, but sure could use some help with the living room TV!

Thanks for any suggestions!

I would guess based on my 03 set up that the 2 cables in the lower shelf are for a satellite receiver. One cable would come from a pre wired satellite cable to the roof area. The other going to the Wineguard distribution switch input labelled "sat".

Is there any kind of connector box on the roof just forward of the ac unit? If so, that would be where the other end of the sat cable is.

In mine, that gray box contained pre wiring for 2 sat cables and a set of control cables for a domed sat antennae. The second sat cable went to the rear bed TV area.

If you are going to use a digital converter box and your entertainment center is set up like mine, you will have to get access to the antenna connection going to the back of the TV. Either at the Wineguard or at the back of the TV and place the converter box in series with the TV. I would expect that either of the 2 empty shelves would work.

I don't know who you can call on to do that for you. Maybe there will be some more responses.

Marty

Its not that hard to get the shelves out. Just remove the door and there are two screws that go threw the two 1 by 1 strips on each side. Remove those and the shelves slide out.

No Shelf Removal

Removing the shelves is NOT going to help.

You need to move the switch box out 7 or 8 inches. I used a #1 two inch long phillips, (very short with big handle, as the screws are in the shelf quite tight) removed the 4 corner hold downs on the switch box, and rotated the box clockwise about 45 degrees. Could not see the wires without a mirror, but was able to properly identify and install converter.

If you search this forum, there are 3 postings for '04 & '05 Sea Breezes.

My hands are large, and it was quite hard to change out the wires. I ended up putting the converter box on top of the Winegard switch box and it fits nice. I just held it down with Velcroe.

When you take the shelves out the winegard box comes with it and you can take it all the way out.
