I just replaced my water pump with the same model (FloJet 4406-143).
I found the easiest way to get the old pump out was to reach up in the wheel well and remove the two screws that hold the pump's wood mount to the wall of the water bay. Then I just removed the wood and pump, replaced the pump, and remounted the wood block.
Easy peasy, and fixed the issues I was having:
- No surging
- No more sputtering at the bathroom faucet
- Better water pressure
- And... much quieter
