I use the "lower all jacks" button all the time. That isn't what impacts the windshield. It is the raising/leveling action that usually imparts the most stress on the windshields. The reason for that is the action of leveling the rig involves individual inputs into the jacks on a non-auto leveling system. This allows the user to impart torque into the RV chassis. There isn't enough support around the window opening to manage that load so the stress is carried into the windshield. If there is a flaw or rock chip, that can weaken the outer pane of glass and that is where a crack will start. What I learned is I didn't follow the leveling directions to the "T" and I caused my own problem. I follow the manufacture's directions for leveling my RV and have had no problems since.
BTW, ours was covered 100% by Progressive because we have the no-deductible glass replacement as part of our coverage. You should not have any problems finding a source for new glass.
Regards,
Rob
