How to Remove Window Screens

I have a 2000 Sea View MH. How do you remove the window screens? Normally if you push a screen up they will come out but not mine. There is a plastic black 'liner' in the way.

If I remember correctly you can pull the plastic "liner" out first. You have to slide it out to one end or the other an may need to open the screen It's tricky but it can be done. Better on a warm day since it has to bend a bit.

Yep, open the screen and pry one end of the black plastic track up and slide it out from under the screen. Removing the valance gives you more room to slide the track out to the side but isn’t totally necessary. I sprayed some silicone along the track to help it come out easier. Go slowly and be careful because the track is easy to break. Clean everything up and coat everything with silicone again, it goes back together much easier.

I did try but the plastic strip is so old and brittle they just break, so have not tried anymore.

I wonder if you can get new strips through Hehr.

So I just did one on my Sea Breeze and yes it broke but no big deal. Slowly work the plastic channel out on the opposite the side the screen is currently sitting. Mine snapped right by the screen. Then I just move the scree out to the opposite side and remove the other half. Screen came out easily after that. Just reverse the steps installing. Put your screen in, install one of the halves, move the screen onto that half and make sure you install the initial piece that broke off snug up against the other piece. Works perfectly.

Screen removal

After several months of constant nagging from DW, I tackled the screen cleaning job. My plastic things don’t go through the entire window channel so I was simply able to slide them forward enough to get both hands on the screen frame, pull up and slip the base of the frame free from the track. I had had the screens out cleaned and replaced in no time. What a difference. Here is what my track looks like. If you want more photos let me know. Click image for larger version
