In dash Radio Died

Coming down to the wire for our upcoming long trip and was out on a road test and of all things to take dump, the indash radio, Audiovox am/fm,cd, cassett, with a WB. I have no idea if this was a stock unit or not, looks like it could have been, At first the unit was working great, hit a small bump and the radio went in and out and back in, go'in along another bump, same thing, thought maybe the station was the problem, went to a cd and same thing, bump and in and out, now mind you, there's still power to the unit as it;s showing the counter has cd is playing, but no sound. Am i missing something here or has the radio played it last time? 04 Dolphin LX 6375 and yes, before you ask, i/we check all the conections under/behind the unit and nothing is out of place. HELP!

Doubt its a ground if the CD counter continuees to count. Sounds like an internal solder joint has failed. It's probably easily repairable by one who knows what their doing. Yet very inexpensive to replace. I'd replace it if it were mine.

I have one here from my 2004 Dolphin. Audiovox Model VR180. It should plug right in. $30 plus actual shipping costs from Victoria, BC.

Do you have a manual. Search for it online.

Do you have a remote with a mute button?

I would check the wire plug in the back of the radio to make sure it is firmly locked in place

There are two 12 v (+) connections to your radio, one to maintain memory presets and the other connects to the ignition power source. If the radio is still running a CD when it's 'mute' then those connections don't seem to be at fault. Does your radio link to an amplifier to combine TV sound to the speakers? If it was a bad connection in the speaker leads, only one speaker should quit, that's why I suspect there's another component in the system. Find that system and check it's power connections.

We have a am/FMfuctioning and is /web/CD radio in our coach that is malfunctioning. I spokk to a guy at a place that does radio installs. He said he used to work at (I thiknk Fleet wood) and as we talked I was impressed that he had done these radio installs in coaches before. We will have a am/FM/satellite/mp3 radio. We are not going to have a CD player as we can put all our cd's on a thumb drive

most radios have 1 plug for all the speakers. before I did any replacing or soldering I would check the speaker plug. that was my problem and I had similar symptoms GOOD LUCK

You have described an issue I had with a Pioneer unit.. only it was not, More on this in a bit.

You have also described a bad connnection... NOW.. On my coach (yours may not be like this) there is a box hidden under the dash which is a stereo amplifier, why a stereo I don't know (Radio has 4 outputs, they are stereo but there are 4 of 'em, needs a quad amp, I also have 4 speakers (Well really 5+1 but that's another system) that are shared between the dash radio when driving and the "House" radio when parked. (Also a pioneer).

The problem turned out to be tension on the RCA Audio cables attaching the Radio to the amplifier. Took me a long time to find the *@)(*$@_ thing. But I re-did a few things, took tension off the lead, re-seated the RCA plugs (Phono is another name for them) and all is good now.

Still, the problem. like yours, was a loose connection.... Just not on the radio.

Works just fine - pay using paypal and it is easily refunded if there is a problem. Will have to goto post office to find shipping charges. Will do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips, the one thing that we didn't check for loose connections was the multidisc changer and we'll be on that first thing tomorrow.
