Info requested on Surfside/National

Looking at a 2006 Surfside. Only 14k miles on it but I am not familiar with the Surfside/National brand. What happened to National? Where would the surfside fall on a quality scale? Tiffin like? Fleetwood like? Thor hurricane like? Would this make a good first RV? Anything I should be looking for when I go check it out later this week?

Any info appreciated.

Regards,
Gary

Have a 2006 Surf Side 34'. Happy with it for the time we have had it - going on four years. Minor issues with coach: water leak in grey water tank, power step motor replaced, switch for living room slide replaced - that is about it. Coach had 9K miles when we got it and it just turned 20K. Sitting is not the best friend to a motorhome. The first thing you will need, are new tires, assuming it has original equipment.
Overall National quality is good. They went out of business in 2008. Having an "orphan" is not a huge problem. All chassis components and many coach fixtures are pretty easy to find, as they are the same as other coaches. Also, there is this company that says they can produce body parts. Ortega Manufacturing | Custom Fiberglass Manufacturing
As mentioned above - lots of good info on this forum from current owners.
Good luck with your decision.

We have a 2007 Sea Breeze, a few minor issues nothing major. I believe Surfside was the entry level unit, then Sea Breeze then the Dolphin in the Gasser line.
I wish they were still in business very well built and many still on the road.

I had 3 minor things to fix when I got mine Total fix cost under $100.00 dollars. Nationals are well built and designed units in my opinion.I am very happy with mine. I must add.......I still need to replace tires.
