Looking at buying a 2000 Dolphin 5375....
It has 41,000 miles. It has some oxidation on the exterior otherwise in very good condition. It has the tag axle, Ford chassis and Triton V10. He just put 2 new front tires on it and not sure of age on the rear, didn't want to crawl around in the snow to look for date code. His bottom dollar is 25,000, seems like a fair price. Any opinions.
Thanks,
SR

My good friend had one similar to this unit. They are nice, we’ll built, and reliable. I was impressed with his, and I also think this is a good deal. And while there always issues with used RV’s, you likely won’t be disappointed. Buy it.

Thank you for that. Just standing in it, it feels very solid and well insulated.
We are not new to RV's and are aware that there will be issues new or used.
I don't think we can go wrong for 25,000.
Thanks a lot,
SR

The owner said he thinks it's a 5370 and not a 5375. He is going to get to his paperwork and get bac to me.

Here's a 2000 Dolphin Brochure that lists all the models.

National Tropical
I have a 1997 National Tropical 36' 235 with a tag axle and 460 engine on an F53 chassis (for sale by the way). I like it very much. Like any motorhome I have come close to they all develop at least small problems over time and I expect the Dolphin to as well. Even though National is out of business I have not yet found anything which can not be replaced or fixed.

Check for popped or cracked windshields. Also the early v10 may feel a bit sluggish in a 37'.

This one has the Banks System, so I hope that helps some. Thanks

We have owned our 2000 National Tropical for going on 10 years now. We bought it with 96000 miles and it now has 110000 miles. National built very solid and structurally sound Motorhomes. We have been to RV shows and have looked at Newmars and Tiffins of recent years and saw how they have changed since they were acquired by larger companies. We were in Red Bay Alabama in 2017 and took the plant tour and saw the attention to detail and quality. For the most part I believe that Nationals were every bit as good as Newmar and Tiffin of 5 or 6 years ago. Ours is on an F53 Chassis with Tag axle and the Banks system which has performed well . If the one you are interested in has a Tag axle make sure to have the Tag axle brakes checked for proper operation. We have had various component failures that can happen with any older RV including Air conditioners , water pump , water heater and leveling jacks. We were considering a full body repaint before the economy went down and may still do it. We would rather put money into our Tropical than into a lesser quality newer Motorhome. I would definitely say buy.

Thanks FredV. We expect things to go wrong, just hope it's not anything major. Thanks again.
