Manual Slide retraction procedure
Hello again folks. Welcome to another in a long line of shameless exploitation questions as I attempt to learn as much as a I can about how to handle problem situations that might occur while enjoying the highways and byways.
Today's Question
How would you manually retract your slides if the power system won't work.
Unfortunately, I have no owners manuals for my Tropical so I am wondering how I would retract my slides if they decided to be uncooperative. I have 2 of them. One passenger side bedroom slide and 1 driver side kitchen slide. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Here is a Powergear slide out manual.
Serv_Man_Electric_Slideout_Sys.pdf
You'll need to identify which slide system(s) you have, then go to the appropriate section. There are many other manuals and tip sheets on their website, if you need them.
With my main 12ft slide (no BR slide), on the end of the motor is a small handle to unlock it. On the other end of the drive shaft, is a nut. Then with the proper socket and ratchet, you crank the slide in or out.
If you have trouble or need specific help, write to info@powergearus.com they are very good at responding quickly.

I don't see it either. If you start on page 20, it shows all the controls and relays. Perhaps just grabbing the Owners/Operators Manual would be better than this one.

No problem with mine. Just thought it was funny that there was a reference to Fig. 2, yet it wasn't there. There is enough trouble shooting info there if I do have a problem.

You start by identifying the make and model of slide you have and downloading the owner's manual.
Accu-Slide cable cars (These have 4 cables visible when slide extended, two toward the front (When in road mode) two toward the rear, there are 4 more you can't see)
Remove either the header or footer panels (Depending on the installation) and use a power drill and a flexible shaft extension to run 'em in.
Power Gear Rack and Pinion (Typical of this type) should have a 3/4" nut on one end of the shaft.. Release the brake on the motor (This is a lever under a rubber boot) and wrench on the nut.. MINE has no nut, I release the brake and heave the thing in the hard way.
Hydraulic, if there is no manual valve you will have to disconnect hoses, in either case HEAVE.. I'd build them with manual valves but ... alas.. I don't build 'em.
In theory one could design a screw drive, Never seen one but I can visualize one. If such is used I"m sure there will be a hole to insert a manual crank.
