Mystery Switch in Power Compartment

There's a rather industrial looking switch in my power compartment that doesn't seem to do anything. I've switched it on/off and checked things to see if something is not working and still haven't figured it out. It's the silver/gray switch box to the left of the cord reel.

Our MH has a basement HVCA and in our installation that switch lets the HVAC work on 30A or 50A. 30A uses a single stage compressor as opposed to the 50A setting which has full compressor. This effects the amount of cooling the HVAC can accomplish and also the drain on the shore power connection. I've use the 30A setting when visiting friends and connected to a 30A house circuit.

When I read through the manuals and such I thought the AC unit would determine what power was available and only run what that power could support. For instance, if I'm on battery only what will it do? Try to run? I also thought the generator would kick on automatically if the load was more than available power. I have much more to learn and thanks for solving that mystery.
