On the monitor panel, the panel where you check your battery levels, gray, black and fresh water levels. That little red rocker switch that has "heater" on the right of it, is that the switch that turns the water heater on and off? My manual is kind of vague, and I'm kind of use to my old motor home, had the switch on the front of the cabinet below the kitchen sink. Any help appreciated from you veteran Islander owners!

That is the LP water heater switch. When you turn it on a second later You should hear a click then a small "woosh" as your burner lights. If you have an electric heater rod also, that switch will probably be close to your kitchen sink. Ours is on a switch with a pilot light on the face of the cabinet under the sink.

switch
Thanks for the info, I do have a electrical switch, it is in the cabinet under the sink, you have to bend to to see it, it is under the first shelf, a regular house wall switch, I traced the wires and it goes to the water heater. I really don't like that set up, I might rewire it with a light that shows when the electric is on to the water heater. I really appreciate the input.

An excellent idea. Last year the light was burnt out on my 04 Tropi Cal switch and I left it in the on position with no water in the tank. They say an element will burn out in 20 seconds if it is not submerged in water . Hopefully I will be more careful in the future.

I just replaced my original pilot light/switch with the one Dick is showing as my old switch was starting to fail.

light switch
That's a nice light switch, but the old saying goes: "out of sight, out of mind". It's in the cabinet under a shelve. I was think of either bringing the switch box outside the cabinet or wiring a small 120V light, that you can get at radio shack, and putting it somewhere visible so if one forgot to turn the switch off he could see the light on.

Bet you can find a suitable pilot light for your water heater here. Some mount with round holes which I find easier than square holes.
