National Pacifica 40E ?

I am considering purchasing a Pacifica 40E and was wondering if someone here could advise me of any problems with this coach. I am looking at '08's because everyone I talk to says Cummins are much better than Cats. At 6'4", I also need the ceiling height. Most I see have the 8.3L 360 hp, but I do see a few with the 8.9L 400 hp. Is there a preference? They want a lot more for the 400hp and I don't know if the extra power is worth it. I really love the full wall slide, but I'm concerned that there may be problems with one so large. I do know that National went out of business about the time they built these coaches, but they built a quality unit. Not that it matters, but I live about 60 - 70 miles from where their factory was. I am a 62 y/o retired R/R engineer and would like to take my wife and 2 dogs to see some of the US, while I still can. There are also grandchildren we would like to take on trips also. I plan to make my first motorhome my last, so I want to get it right the first time. I also like Tiffins, but we are on a bit of a budget and there is that Cat issue with there older ones. I would appreciate any info and advice, Thanks, Stephen

We have a National Pacifica 40E and love it. The 360 has been fine for us. The fact that National is out of business hasn't affected at all. Freightliner and Cummins cover all the important parts.

I have a 2008 40D it has a CAT 350 turbo which has been fine, the great thing about the 40E is that large slide, your awning is mounted on the slide which is very nice. You also get those two vanity bowls and the large vanity where the washer/dryer is located under that nice long vanity. My 40D has a bath and a half, so that was the trade off from the 40E. Each are great coaches, I bought the 40D because I got the deal I wanted on it, that said I would of got the 40E had the price been right. I am satisfied and I believe you would be as well, these National Coaches have floor plans that work for a couple or a family. I love taking my grandkids out with us. Enjoy your search and best wishes.

Thanks for the info, it does help.

There are a couple possibilities out there. I also found a Cummins 360hp 36a Pacifica. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? I was wondering if they have 8 airbags also.
