Post New to National

We are getting back to the RV style after selling our 43ft Dutch Star in 2015. Having bought a new Phaeton in 08 this will be our fourth Class A and first Gas driven. I will never buy new again, too much loss equity when you drive it off the lot. I chose National because of the quality and solid construction. Having a few electrical issue, but just found the breaker in the battery compartment. Had I joined this group I would have asked and saved $$ instead of two service calls.

Good choice to go with National. We love our Dolphin and our reasons for choosing it were the same as yours... it made no sense to buy new and the quality of Nationals was among the best we found.

???

Somehow the parking brake is all the way down, I can't find a way to release it! Also, in the battery compartment there are two small square things that look like switches, what are they!

Thanks for response and expertise, if you have a moment I have two questions: is there a tool to remove the inside engine cover & I cant find the parking brake release. Being away from RVing foe five years I feel as doumb as a rock.

Joe, if you have a Ford F53 chassis, the parking brake release is out of sight from the drivers chair, at least it is on my 2006 Sea Breeze.

The release is under the instrument panel, above and slightly to the left of the parking brake pedal. Reach toward the firewall, then up. It's a typical parking brake release handle and a PITA to reach.

You might have to use a mirror or stick your head under there to find it.

The previous owner kept the engine cover tool in the slide out tray in front of the passenger seat. It is a T-shaped and chromed on mine.

A 6 point 7mm socket will also work to remove the dog house.

Question

If I may impose again, I don't have any power to start the genset. The breakers on the generator are show on and wondering if there is another stitch? Also the instrument panel just to the left of the wheel, has several switches, i.e. Aux etc. Cant find definition.

Someday our path my cross and lunch is on me!

The switch is to the left of the steering wheel, may be labeled GEN or have a lightning bolt icon. also has a start switch on the gen set, push bottom of the switch to prime push the top to start. For shut down hold the bottom of the switch down. The house batteries must be on to start the GEN set. make sure the disconnect switch is on left side of the stairwell.
