Old National Dealers
Anyone know of previous National dealers still in business in Southern Calif, Nevada or Arizona. I need to have my ABS skids on my 12' slide replaced. These are 12"x6" and one of them is broke. Looking for a shop that knows how to replace these.
Would be nice to find who made the skids, no part number on them.
Stuck in Vegas right now waiting on new slide motor.

we bought ours from DAN GAMEL RV. think he still has a dealership somewhere in cal.
LA MASA in PHOENIX may be able to help. any good shop should be able to do the job.

Joe, I would look for a shop that does major collision repair, and renovations. Regular "Repair" facilities are most likely "Underskilled" at removing slides.

Fred,
That's why I'm looking for a place that sold and worked on Nationals. Figure I might get lucky and actually find the replacement skids. There is a large facility here in Vegas and tomorrow I'm taking them pics. When I talked to them the other day at least they knew what the skid replacements had to look like. I don't think the slide needs to be removed, just jacked up since the skids are attached to the front of the bottom of the slide.

Joe, if they don't have the parts in Vegas, contact Gamblers or Walts from the this list.

Talked to Russ about the skids (Gambler) nothing in Quartzsite, but I'll holler at him when he's back home. You wouldn't believe the stuff he has in Victorville. Sadly, none of it is inventoried. He might even have the slide motor that just cost me a grand in all that stuff and only 75 bucks. Forgot about Walts, will give him a holler tomorrow, thanks.
Did we meet in Yuma a few years ago?

Nope, never have been to Yuma. We winter close to the desert, so in the summer we head north. However, this year we might spend a couple of nights at the Nellis FamCamp on our way to SD.

We tried to get in there while we're waiting for the slide motor since it's closer to the Mobile Mechanic we're using and he is approved to come on Base at the Fam Camp. But couldn't get FHU, no sewer doesn't work good when you have to hand crank the slide in and out. We like Nellis a lot better then Tucson. Rumor has it that Nellis is almost doubling it's size.
Talked to Mike, mobile mechanic, this evening and he has some thoughts on fixing the slide skid. Will meet up in a few days and he can actually see the pics I took last year on what the skid looks like.
Kinda surprised I haven't received a few more suggestions on places to get her fixed.

Slide Repairs
This is a few days late, but you might talk to K&N Customs in Romoland.
They were the guys that did all the tough factory warranty slide work for National when they were still in business. They are just down the road from the factory location. I had them adjust my big slide a few years ago after getting no help from La Mesa where I bought it or Giant when I got to So Cal.
They are at kncustoms.com or 951 928-0380.
I found them good to deal with, fair in price and knowledgeable.
They had lots of parts they picked up when national closed....

Thanks Mike, I'll keep their info. The Mobile Mech in Vegas installed my new motor and attached some teflon strips on under the slide using longer screws where the compartment hinges are attached to the coach under the slide. Actually works better now then the factory set up. So far, so good. Really pleased with the knowledge and honesty of Affordable RV Service & Repair. I was at his facility at 9:00 am and on the road by noon. Total cost was 1376.00, this included the Power Gear motor and expedited shipping of 1001.00, his total labor was 375.00, of which 75 bucks was for the new teflon skids he made.
If you're ever in Las Vegas NV and need some work done give him a holler. You can check out comments on his work at www.rvservicereviews.com
