Owner Manual Woes

After much research utilizing your forum, we found just the right motorhome for us recently...but we need a little help.

We purchased what we thought was a 2003 SeaBreeze LX (National RV) all documentation and the US registration listed it as 2003, but all the stickers etc. say 2002. How would we determine its actual year? A little frustrating after we voted to go with the "newer" one over the 2002 we had found for the resale value of an extra year newer.

Also, the motorhome came with every manual known to man, except the actual owners manual. I have scoured the usual sites, but can find nothing but specs. I do not need a paper copy, a scan, digital copy what have you would be fine! Anyone willing to share? Trying to sort a couple of issues myself regarding the electrical systems battery and shore before giving up and taking to a deal for a hit in the pocket book.

Thanks so much for any advice or input!

Tollergirl, DH who doesn't get to drive, and the Tollerpups!

It's not unusual to find a difference in title age and chassis age. The RV manufacturer buys chassis and sits them on their lot until they build a 'house' on it. Your house could be '03 but the chassis '02. Check your serial numbers of the chassis and the MH and contact the manufacturers. You'll need the age of the chassis for service of those parts, the MH serial number for parts and info on that part. Here's a link to National info:

See you down the road!

Hi Tollergirl. I bet you'll get better responses if you can have Sarah move this thread over to the National owner's forum at irv2:

I would be happy to have it moved if it would help me get a manual! What do I need to do, Sarah?

Thanks!

It's called a "split year vehicle". There is a Federal Law on it too. The manufacturer of the completed vehicle sets the model year, not the chassis manufacturer. Some states still try and go by the year of the chassis VIN, but that is wrong.

It looks as if it's been moved. Hopefully the participants here on this forum (National owners) will know how to get your owner's manual especially since National is out of business.

ETA: I just looked over on the National Yahoo Group and somebody does have the owner's manual posted (in a three part download) for the 2005 models if that would help. You might want to join that group and ask if anybody has the 2003 material if nobody on this forum can help you out.

The owner's manual I have for my `04 Breeze is generic. You could probably get a Monaco manual and learn just as much. The individual component manuals are the important ones. Enjoy your Breeze; they were built to a higher standard that other motor homes in the same price range.

The VIN will tell you what year it is but almost all MH built before May will have chassis that are built in the previus year. An example would be an 03 model built in Dec. of 02 couldn't have an 03 chassis. My 05 dolphin built in Oct. 04 has a chassis built in May 04.

Also, a lot of times, an early model 2003 could have really been built under the 2002 specs, but titled and sold as a 2003.

Our 2008 Cameo looks more like a 2007, and has some of the 2007 and 2008 features. It was an early 2008 production, so I guess it was a transition unit.
