Paint for coach battery compartment

I am replacing the Kwikee slide out battery tray on my 03 Dolphin LX 6342. After 14 years the ball bearings in the tray runners are gone and the tray is very difficult to move in and out with 4 heavy batteries on it. Found identical Kwikee tray on line so all seems ok in that area, but was just wondering what type of paint I should use and how to prepare the surface of the battery compartment. Although the surface is not in too bad a shape, I thought I would go ahead and repaint everything while I had the compartment empty. Would appreciate any advice from this knowledgeable group.

I would use acid proof paint designed for battery boxes.
Without causing splashing of spray that can transfer/land on the side of the coach, Wash all areas to be painted with baking soda to neutralize battery acid. Scrape and sand, and repeat with baking soda wash and a good rinse. Best to do over dirt as rust stains may transfer to concrete in rinse.
Whiping down all metal parts with acetone prior to painting will remove oils and grease.

My system is several years old, and no build-up or mess in the battery compartment.

I used top of the line gloss black Krylon, it held up great.

We took our tray out and replaced one slide, had tray sand blasted and repainted with primer then krylon spray paint. Used sanding disk on inside of box and spray painted it too. It works great and looks like New.

Cannot stress enough the use of the "watering system" mentioned. They do not allow as much "gassing" as the mfg. plugs (caps). We went so far as to install the red/green chemically treated felt rings on every post. That was over 2 years ago with not the first bit of acid buildup.
The aviation battery paint by Randolph is bullet proof..........

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses. Have the compartment cleaned, sanded and washed down with baking soda solution. Haven't located the acid resistant paint locally yet, but will keep trying.

I used black urethane roof sealant purchased at HD. It comes in a caulking tube type container and takes several days to cure. I used a putty knife to spread it. Stays pliable and sticks to any surface. I did this 10 years ago when I added 4 G5s. Be sure to wear several layers of nitrile gloves.
