Part Number for Vent Control Actuator

Hi all,

We’ve got a 2000 National Tradewinds 7371 37’ RV with a Freightliner Custom Chassis (XC Series - 26.350 GVWR).

We’re having yet another problem with the dash air — which has been a constant problem since the rig was new — and this time it appears to be a failed Vent Control Actuator (air blows through the defrost, but not the vents). This was diagnosed by a prior truck repair shop -- but they don't work on AC.

Anyone happen to know the part number for this Vent Control Actuator? (I'm not where the RV is, and I'm trying to order one before I get to where it is so that I can repair it.)

Also, anyone know WHERE this is on the 2000 National Tradewinds 7371?

Thanks Richard! Just so I understand -- is this a suggestion of who to ask? Or do you believe that the Evans product is in the 2000 National Tradewinds 7371?

And, do you know if it's the smart or dumb actuator?

Defrost is the Evans/Tempcon default mode , It's possible you have a vacuum leak. Or the vacuum pump has quit or blown a fuse.

If you switch to heat does the airflow go onto the floor?

EDIT: On re-reading I see you're not with the coach. If the shop doesn't work on A/C , I wouldn't trust their diagnosis . Evans/Tempcon is a major supplier of the dash A/C units , with spring loaded , single direction, vacuum actuators, set to control air flow in such a way that a loss of vacuum will leave the system in defrost mode. So if your diving in a situation where you need defrost you'll always have it. . Like I mentioned if you only have defrost , then a single actuator is probably not your issue.

Hi all,

The end result of this all is that no parts were needed. Evans has a great set of troubleshooting steps, and it turned out that the hose from the vacuum [powered] pump to the reservoir had popped off -- so there was no vacuum, and therefore, it could only blow through the [default] defrost vents.

Popped the hose back on and all worked again!
